We had 32 members turn out for our December vegan potluck & supper club. The meal was catered by Chipotle and Babaziki, who donated the food. Chipolte donated vegan burritos with sofritas (spiced braised tofu) with guacamole, lettuce, tomato, rice, and corn salsa. Babaziki donated fafafel (mediterranean chickpea balls with spices), hummus, tahini, salads and various sauces. It was delicious and everyone enjoyed it.
Our speaker was Michael Odiam, who talked about overcoming illness with plant based diet. Michael sells nutritional books and children’s Bible story books.
Babaziki gave a short talk on vegan options available at the restaurant, which is near Firebirds, Scottrade, Hu-Hot & not far from Costco on Woodruff road in new shops area. Formerly location of Greenville Mall that was torn down. The owner is from Tunisia, and they plan on someday opening new restaurants nationwide. Abe has patronize several times. Enjoyed Middle East cuisine. The plethora of item options with endless plate & bowl combinations provide broad appeal, combined with incomparable specialty sauce bar.
Several people set up tables in the back for their wares: Ruth and Bob Doolittle gave away Hallelujah Acres nutritional magazines. Betty and Isaiah Haywood, sold their Himalayan salt lamps at 25% off. Michael Odiam also sold his nutritional books and children’s materials.
Frank the Co-Organizer gave away door prizes, donated by West end merchants, including a tailgate basket stocked with picnic supplies. It was a fun evening.
Abe took photos & mislabeled church name. Is St. Andrews.
